RSA Statement of Attainment Validity Expiry and Renewal

Hello everyone. Welcome to our channel, where we discuss the most important questions about getting your RSA certification. In this video, we will be discussing how long your RSA certification is valid.

RSA (Responsible Service of Alcohol) is a certificate that is required by people who work in the hospitality industry in Australia. It allows you to serve and sell alcohol and to work in licensed premises such as bars, nightclubs, restaurants, hotels, and events.

One of the most common questions people ask about their RSA certification is how long it is valid. So, let’s dive into the details and find out!

The length of time for which RSA certification is valid varies between states and territories in Australia. In some states, it is valid for three years, while in other states, it never expires.

In Victoria, the RSA certificate is valid for three years, and it is required for anyone employed in a position that involves the sale, supply, or service of alcohol. Once your certificate has expired, you must renew it before you can continue working in the same capacity.

In Queensland, however, the RSA QLD certificate doesn’t expire.

In NSW, you will receive an NSW RSA Interim certificate on course completion, valid for 90 days. In these 90 days, you must apply for your Competency Card, which is valid for five years.

There is no expiry date for the RSA certificate in Western Australia.

The RSA Statement of Attainment also does not expire for Tasmania and South Australia.

In ACT, however, RSA ACT Certificate expires in 3 years.

For Northern Territory, the RSA NT certificate must be renewed every three years.

Renewing your RSA certification is essential as it ensures you have up-to-date knowledge of the laws and regulations that govern the sale and service of alcohol. It also demonstrates your commitment to responsible service of alcohol, which is vital for maintaining a safe and responsible drinking culture in Australia.

So, the length of time for which your RSA certification is valid depends on the state or territory in which you are employed. In most cases, it is valid for two or three years, and it is essential to renew your certification before it expires to ensure that you are up-to-date with any changes to legislation or codes of practice.

If you need clarification on the validity of your RSA certification or to renew your certification, speak to the organisation that issued your certificate. They will be able to provide you with information on how to renew your certification and any refresher courses that may be required.
