What is NSW RSA Bridging course?

The online NSW RSA bridging course is provided by Liquor & Gaming NSW to gain NSW RSA competency. It is available for applicants who already have their interstate RSA qualification. The course takes only 90 minutes to complete and costs $87.

The Bridging course is ideal for liquor industry workers living in border towns as it offers more employment options. It also makes it easier for NSW licensees to recruit appropriately trained staff.

To be eligible to take the course, interstate workers must have:

  • A national RSA statement of attainment from Queensland, Northern Territory, South Australia, Western Australia or Tasmania issued within the last five years, or
  • An RSA certificate or refresher certificate from Victoria issued within the last three years, or
  • An RSA certificate or refresher certification or a national RSA statement of attainment or from Australian Capital Territory issued within the last three years.

When you complete the course, you receive an NSW RSA bridging course completion certificate. You need this certificate to apply for your NSW RSA competency card. It is not an interim certificate and does not allow you to serve alcohol in licensed venues in NSW.

You receive your RSA bridging course interim certificate after you've applied for your competency card. The interim certificate allows you to work in relevant roles for 90 days from the date of issue. After that time, you must use your competency card.

Once you have your competency card, you can access it digitally using your mobile phone or tablet device. You'll need a MyServiceNSW Account and the latest version of the Service NSW app. You can then link your MyServiceNSW Account to Liquor & Gaming NSW.
